Loren Donald Pearson identifies, registers, and polices his client’s intellectual property rights by filing patents, trademark, and copyrights in the U.S. Patent, Trademark, and Copyright Offices. He also extends his clients U.S. rights into foreign jurisdictions. He has significant experience with both outgoing and incoming international patent applications based on the Patent Cooperation Treaty, Paris Convention, and Madrid Protocol. Mr. Pearson’s practice includes other intellectual property issues, such as, patentability searches, trademark availability, infringement/non-infringement opinions, and licensing. He also represents clients in inter-partes disputes, such as, Oppositions, Cancellations, Interferences, and Concurrent-Use Proceedings within the Trademark Trial and Appeal Board.
Mr. Pearson leads the firm’s patent and trademark prosecution group. He has represented Fortune-100 companies plus smaller businesses, not only in South Florida, but throughout the world. Example clients include Siemens, ABB, Bonutti Technologies, Prolexic Technologies, Cosabella, eAir, the Univ. of Florida, Invenstar, La Sandwicherie Restaurant, and Mokai Nightclub.
Mr. Pearson represents foreign law firms desiring to file foreign applications in the United States. He has significant (100+ cases) experience filing patents in the United States. He is experienced using the Paris Convention, the PCT National Phase, and PCT Bypass as means of claiming foreign priority. Foreign I.P. attorneys who are visiting Miami or who want to represent his clients in foreign countries are encouraged to contact Mr. Pearson.
Mr. Pearson has particular experience dealing with inventions involving chemicals and materials, pharmaceuticals, medical devices, business methods, and semiconductors. He has significant experience with other arts including mechanical and electrical inventions.
Mr. Pearson is licensed to practice law in the state of Florida and the United States Patent and Trademark Office. He has over fifteen years experience practicing intellectual property law. He was previously counsel to Fleit, Gibbons, Gutman, Bongini & Bianco, P.L. and an associate in Lerner & Greenberg, P.A.
Loren Donald Pearson graduated from the University of Miami Law School in 1996. He was a member of the Intellectual Property Law Society and Yearbook of International Law. Mr. Pearson attended graduate school in chemistry at Villanova University. Mr. Pearson graduated from the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill in 1992 with degrees in Chemistry and Economics.
Mr. Pearson worked as a scientist for Rohm & Haas Co. where his work involved polymer chemistry, in particular, ion-exchange resin synthesis using suspension polymerizations.
